Home improvement has played a significant role in our lives ever since. There’s no denying that we value the essence of our homes as a haven for comfort and shelter.
In the United States alone, though there were earlier records of home renovations in the country, there was a remarkable boom in this industry in the 1900s. Americans started to get interested in home improvements, proven and even encouraged by pop culture in shows like This Old House in 1979.
The culture has grown anywhere in the globe, popularized by TV shows, internet blogs and of course, conferences and exhibits by the industry’s experts and suppliers for anyone who has the heart for a better home.
If you’re wondering where you can start learning and building your network, you’re in the right place. Here are three of the most impoortant conferences in home renovation.
1. Home Improvement Research Institute
The founders started this conference in 1981 as the Do-It-Yourself Research Institute. Eight years later, they renamed themselves as the Home Improvement Research Institute.
It is membership-based and offers different venues for learning, such as Peer-to-Peer Networking and Custom Consulting Hours. HIRI also conducts annual conferences, exclusive to its members and at least 70 leading names and firms in the industry.
2. The Builders & Remodelers Show (BRS)
The Builders Association of the Twin Cities puts the spotlight on at least a thousand home builders and remodelers, developers and industry suppliers.
The BRS is an annual event. In 2016, almost a thousand people came. Aside from the home improvement learning experience, guests commended the food served during the exhibit.
3. NAHB International Builders’ Show
There were almost 60, 000 professionals in the light building field attended the event last year. If you’re a member, you’ll get discounted rates to this paid conference.
In January 2017, there will be another round of the NAHB International Builders’ Show in Orlando, FL.
If you are aspiring to DIY your home renovation or become a professional in this field, I recommend that you attend any of the three biggest conferences the industry has to offer.
